On Aug. 5th, my dad planned a "date" for he and I. I didn't know where we were going. Over time, it slipped out that it was a concert. He had taken my sister to see Elton John and Billy Joel (who I've ALWAYS wanted to see), so my hopes were high that we'd be seeing someone COOL (not, you know, Neil Diam0nd or something).
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, my dad took me to see PAUL McCARTNEY at FENWAY. Seriously......I am THE BIGGEST Beatles fan EVER. I have loved them since I was Sawyer's age. I subjected my poor college room mates to hours of Beatles tunes. The only reason my kids aren't named Lennon or Jude is because they have (so far) been vetoed by Scot. (I'm still holding out for Lucy! :) ) I've introduced my kids to the likes of Sgt. Pepper (Sawyer's fav) and Lovely Rita. I LOVE the Beatles- and of course, Paul is my favorite! Who knew he was even still TOURING? I wouldn't have guessed.
It was the best night ever. He was EXCELLENT live. I mean, REALLY, REALLY fabulous. Spending time with my dad was priceless. Standing down on the field at Fenway and singing "Hey, Jude" with , you know, thousands of other people was so cool. And getting thisclose to the Big Green Monster- the whole things was surreal!!!
Thanks, Dad. I will never forget it!
